ÜMRANİYE DISTRICT ELMALIKENT NEIGHBOURHOOD URBAN DESIGN PROJECT

The urban design project has been developed at the request of Ümraniye Municipality under the “Joint Service Protocol between the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization and GEDAŞ Real Estate Valuation Inc”. The project aims to renew the ageing building stock while integrating it with the surrounding environment, ultimately creating a high quality urban area in terms of quality of life. The project’s transportation scheme and mass movements have been designed with the natural structure and topography in mind. Due to the slope, development has been avoided around the valley floor and amenities such as parks, mosques and kindergartens have been placed in these areas. The main objectives of the urban design project to revitalise the existing urban fabric by harmonising it with its surroundings, to improve the quality of life and to optimise land use through careful consideration of natural features and spatial relationships.
