URBAN RESEARCH, CONSERVATION PLAN APPROACH AND DESIGN GUIDE STUDIES FOR ŞİŞLİ DISTRICT HISTORICAL SITE
The Conservation Plan Approach created for the Harbiye Historical and Urban Conservation Area and the Şişli Urban Conservation Area integrates analytical studies and an urban design guide covering the whole area. Its purpose is to generate design and implementation decisions that positively contribute to conserving the cultural heritage and natural environment in the area, and transfer this heritage to future generations. The project aims to integrate historical and cultural values with the city, ensures the harmony of new constructions with the area’s unique texture and cultural structure, and establish implementation conditions to remove elements that disrupt the texture of the region. Within the study area, the Urban Design Guide created to develop spatial plans and projects that reference the existing texture and architectural characteristics. The objective is to preserve and reinforce the Şişli District’s historical identity to maintain urban memory while enhancing the settlement’s unique character. This guide aims to create plans and projects that align with the urban identity, enhance the sense of place, and safeguard the historical and architectural heritage.
